How to Fix the LG TV Has Sound But No Picture Issue
In most cases, the LG TV has sound but no pictures, which can occur due to a software issue. If that is the case, then the following troubleshooting fixes will help you solve the problem.
Restart Your LG Smart TV
As a simple and universal fix, restart your LG Smart TV. When your TV restarts, it flushes out the bugs and unwanted errors in the software instantly. It also clears out temporary file spaces and conserves more space for a faster TV function.
So, remove the power cable on your TV and let it be idle for 3-5 minutes. Meanwhile, hold the Power button on your TV for 5 seconds and drain the residual power. Now, turn on your LG TV and check if the issue is solved.
Check For Connectivity
Do you see no picture but hear sound while accessing external devices on your LG TV? Then, the problem is with the connectivity. When the cables that initialize connectivity are loose, you will not clearly get the AV on the TV.
So, remove the cable connecting the external device to the TV and connect it back firmly to the TV. Now, try accessing the external device and check if you see the picture on your TV. If you still see no picture, then the problem might be with the connecting cable or your external device. So, address the issue and come back to see if it is solved.
Update Your LG Smart TV
If you find the problem is not with the external device, then it is possible the problem is with your LG TV software. In this case, update your LG TV webOS to the latest version to fix the problem.
By updating your TV to the new OS, you will receive new software patches and bug fixes for potential TV problems. Once you update your TV, play any content on it and check if the LG TV is showing the picture along with the sound.
Cool Down Your LG TV
If you keep your LG TV in standby mode or use your TV for a long time, you may face this issue. When the TV is running for a long period, it may get overheated and cause various issues on your TV.
Overheating can happen if your LG TV is kept in a place with poor ventilation or near the heat source. So to fix this, I recommend moving your LG TV to a well-ventilated space and letting your TV idle for an hour. Once your TV is cool enough, turn on the TV and check if the issue is solved.
Check for Internal Hardware Problems
If the issue persists and you can’t even see the LG TV’s home screen, the problem is completely hardware. When the internal hardware, like the backlight, T-Con Board, circuits, or other components, is facing an issue, you will see a black screen on your LG TV.
If this is the problem, then contact LG TV Customer Support to replace the damaged component.
These are the possible ways that you can try out to fix the LG TV showing no picture but sound. I’m glad if you find the troubleshooting helpful. Similar to this issue, if you want to know more about other LG TV problems, check out my LG TV community forum.
